Acorns Farm, Kirkby
Attractions include a wide range of farm animals to stroke and feed, horse rides, animal petting pavilion, seasonal garden centre, caf‚ and farm shop.
Beeston Castle and Woodland Park, Cheshire
This ‘Castle of the Rock’ is famous for its spectacular views, which take in no less than eight counties on a clear day. From its lookout point at the top of a mighty crag, you can see from the Pennines all the way to the Welsh mountains. There are beautiful woodlands to explore around the castle, with wildlife trails for the children to follow, and even the chance to find the lost treasure of Richard II.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool
The Pleasure Beach is Britain’s most popular tourist attraction with over 6.5 million visitors a year, and has something for all the family in it’s 42 acres of funland. There are 45 restaurants and cafes offering a range of eating experiences from the Oriental to traditional fish and chips to pizza and pasta.
Blue Planet Aquarium, Ellesmere Port
With over 50 animal exhibits from seahorses to clown fish, as well as Europe’s largest collection of sharks, there’s something for all ages at Blue Planet Aquarium.
Carlisle Castle, Cumbria
Standing proudly in the city it has dominated for nine centuries, Carlisle Castle was a constantly updated working fortress until well within living memory. Now its rich and varied visitor attractions reflect its long and eventful history and the castle still plays a prominent role in Cumbria as one of its best-loved landmarks. With a new exhibition, a programme of guided tours, a picnic area, a unique gift shop and being so close to Hadrian’s Wall, the castle makes for an exciting day out.
