The Pub
Originally a road side coaching inn dating back to nobody knows exactly when, the Waddington Arms was formerly known as the Sun Inn. For many a year it provided hospitality to travellers and villagers alike.
But then, as happened quite a bit in the 1980’s it became a pub with a Chinese restaurant to the side. It was great at first, something of a novelty, but then standards started to slip and custom fell away.
By 1993 things had reached rock bottom. Last orders were called for the spring rolls and the not so crispy duck and the Sun Inn closed the doors for the last time.
The pub was bought from the brewery and has been in family ownership ever since.
Gutted, redesigned and rebuilt, the pub re opened in 1994. Not as the Sun Inn with all its bad memories but as the Waddington Arms, a new look and fresh start. Under the ownership of the same team behind The Emporium and Mitton Hall it has gone from strength to strength ever since. |
